I attended the County Stormwater Board Wednesday as the county liaison.

Good news! The engineering contract to oversee the Shell Point Stormwater project was recommended to go forward to County Council. The engineering firm recommended will oversee construction and permitting, and we hope to award their contract prior to July 1.

Other news from the meeting:

• Due to the growth in Beaufort County, Stormwater is seeing a record number of projects and permit requests
• Arthur Horne Park in Mossy Oaks approved for preliminary investigation for stormwater repairs and wildlife habitat
• DHEC is working on how to define urbanized areas for stormwater

This is one reason I am running for re-election: to work with our excellent county staff and boards to get things accomplished!
