Consultant Tyson Smith, from White & Smith Planning and Law Group, will present the final results of a year-long Lowcountry Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) Implementation project on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Beaufort-Port Royal Metropolitan Planning Commission meeting.
The session will start at Beaufort City Hall at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Smith’s presentation will include a JLUS Strategic Public Outreach and Coordination Strategy and revised City, Town, and County zoning overlays incorporating the emerging F-35B mission at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort. Those maps will be presented to elected officials for adoption in the coming months.
In addition, Mr. Smith will present an update about the Transferrable Development Rights (TDR) Implementation program. Topics include a TDR Easement Cooperative Agreement between Beaufort County and the Beaufort County Open Land Trust, TDR Administrative Materials, content for a new TDR website, and the anticipated process for awarding existing state grant funds for the purchase of conservation easements within the vicinity of MCAS-Beaufort.
